Jesse Tyler Ferguson Sells L.A. Home for $7.1M—to Leonardo DiCaprio

May 24, 2021 by Staff Reporter

The “Modern Family” star Jesse Tyler Ferguson has sold his Spanish-style home with a distinguished celebrity pedigree.

It appears that yet another celeb handoff has happened, with Leonardo DiCaprio on the buying end of the Los Feliz, CA, home, Dirt reported.

While DiCaprio resides in a lavish spread in the Bird Streets neighborhood, he already owns one other home nearby that he bought from Moby in 2018 for a family member. Perhaps Ferguson’s former home could be a similar purchase. Either way, it’s yet another addition to the A-lister’s already impressive property portfolio.

Ferguson had placed the home on the market just last month, asking $6,995,000. The Emmy-nominated actor received a tad over asking—$7.1 million, to be exact.

The actor and his husband, Justin Mikita, picked up the 1920s abode in 2013 for $4.55 million. Although the couple embarked on a renovation, many of the home’s fabulous updates came prior to their ownership.

The lavish pool and waterfall on the half-acre grounds were installed by the singer Gwen Stefani, who snapped up the appealing property in 1998, and lived there until selling it in 2007.

Ferguson and Mikita added their own custom touches with the help of the designer Peter Gurski. Featuring a marriage of modern updates with original touches, the end result was worthy of a feature in Architectural Digest.

Spanning 5,000 square feet, and perched among private hedges above street level, the gated four-bedroom spread includes a two-story formal entry.

An eye-catching library comes with soaring ceilings, stained-glass windows, and Juliet balconies on the upper level that peek over into the library and living room. The large living area features 25-foot ceilings and a stone fireplace.

Walk through the custom-designed dining room with designer wall paper and a coffered ceiling, and into the eat-in chef’s kitchen, with a breakfast nook, built-in cabinets, and a wine fridge.

A family room easily converts into a media room with a projector and drop screen for movie nights.

Upstairs, the master bedroom opens to a terrace and features a large en suite bathroom with separate tub and shower.

The layout also includes an office and a gym.

Almost every room has access to outdoor space, perfect for hosting parties, lounging pool side, or dining outdoors. The sprawling outdoor space includes a detached Zen meditation room, pool bathroom, and an observation deck with city views. The property also comes with a three-car garage.

Ferguson has earned four Screen Actor Guild awards for the role of Mitchell Pritchett on “Modern Family.” He has also appeared in such Broadway shows as “Our Town” and “Fully Committed,” for which he won a Drama Desk Award.

Jennifer Akbari with Compass represented Ferguson. Brett Lawyer with Hilton & Hyland represented the buyer.
