Real Estate Agent Phil Nordella located in Santa Clarita discussed real estate news regarding current listings and missed mortgage payments on “Real Estate: It’s That Simple” radio show.
As of May 2021, the active number of listings for houses is 197. In April 2019, the active average amount of listings was 625. When comparing these two numbers, it is obvious that houses are selling a lot faster than years before.
In Phil Nordella’s ten years of selling real estate, the most listings Phil Nordella and Associates had was 1,400.

If the number of listings is low, it can mean that the seller can expect their house to sell in a short amount of time. They may even be offered well above the asking price because there are not a lot of listings in that area.
This would be detrimental to a buyer who does not have a lot of money. They will have a really difficult time finding a house that meets their expectations at a reasonable price.
When there are a ton of listings on the market, the buyer has a lot more freedom. This means that a buyer probably will not have to compete with as many other buyers. They have a much greater chance at finding their dream home.
